Originally the country home of Philadelphia merchant Henry Pratt, Lemon Hill has changed with a changing city. Philadelphia’s need for fresh water and green space transformed this property into the birthplace of Fairmount Park and a place for recreation. Since then, Lemon Hill Mansion has continued to be a gateway to Philadelphia’s unique urban park system.
